Belle & Ben's Italian Wedding

Belle & Ben's Italian Wedding

Where do we start with this gorgeous wedding? From the location to the photographer and of course the wedding dress, this wedding is breathtaking! As featured in the Real Wedding Special of HELLO MAY Magazine. Belle and Ben were married in Ravello, Italy, think Amalfi Coast!

Belle wore the BESPOKE Prea gown styled with a beautiful headpiece and surrounded by her bridesmaids who wore different gowns in shades of white, teamed with baby's breath flower crowns.

Belle and Ben also made custom books for all their guests "We didn't just want to place a menu on the table without special shoutouts to our bridal party and parents so we created a fun booklet that had funny one-liners about each of them, as well as a very special mention to our grandparents who aren't with us. It ended up being a solid talking point and icebreaker for the entire evening and it made something as clinical as a menu and made people feel apprecaited to be with us on the day."

For the vibe of the day "We wanted romantic, slightly over the top flowers, fresh whites, lots of candles and olive trees everywhere". - Belle

Dan O'Day, whom Belle and Ben found through HELLO MAY beautifully captured the day.

Annie & Lincoln's Beautiful Garden Wedding

Annie & Lincoln's Beautiful Garden Wedding

How did you meet your (now) husband? We are high school sweets hearts – We started dating when I was in year 10 and Linc was in year 12.

How long have you been together? 11 years

Do you have a proposal story? On the weekend of our 10 year (dating) anniversary Linc surprised me with plane tickets down to Tasmania. We hired a car when we arrived in Launceston and drove down to Cradle Mountain where he had booked us two nights at Peppers Resort. It was the most beautiful place, we were literally right at the base of a mountain surrounded by lush green forest, it was like something out of the movies!! The same afternoon we arrived at Cradle Mountain, Linc and I went for a walk through the rainforest and it was there that Linc turned around and dropped his knee!! I was so shocked that a swear word may have been the first thing I said in response (classy, I know!) and then followed by an “of course!!!” and a few tears!

To top it all off, Linc had booked us into a private spa “wing” that looked over the forest and we had our own private outdoor plunge pool and spa bath!! We had so much fun spending the afternoon there, drinking champagne and ringing all our friends and family to tell them our exciting news!!

A weekend I’ll never forget!!

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? Sunday 20th December, 2015

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

1.     Where? The Grounds of Alexandria, Sydney

2.     What made you choose there? Their beautiful gardens and spaces

3.     How did you find it? When we lived I Sydney we were regular visitors to the grounds for coffee and lunch!

How was the weather on the day? Perfect! Linc would say too hot as he had to wait at the aisle for quite a while for me!!

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? Lincoln and I are currently living in Dubai and thought this date was perfect as it allowed us to come back to Australia and spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve back home with family and friends!

The Wedding Details

Theme? Our theme was white, copper, wood and greenery.

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? I’ve never been a colourful person so I was always going to go with white!! The grounds of Alexandria was inspiration for the greenery and wood and I just love copper and thought it would be perfect for the finishing touches!

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? The bonbonners were succulents in little white geometric planters with a copper flag – my parents and other relatives planted all 100 succulents and my bridesmaids made the copper flags! My parents also hand painted all the table numbers so that they were copper too.

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship?  Emma, Beck (my two sisters), Mel, Vanessa, Aimee (best girlfriends) and Jessie (Linc’s cousin who is a close friend to both of us)

Groomsmen – who/relationship? Miles, Elliott (Linc’s two brothers), Matt, Luke, Aaron and Andy (Linc’s best mates)

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I had seen your range online and on Instagram and thought they would suit me!

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? Online

How many gowns did you try? 2 or 3

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Paddington, Sydney

What did you especially like about your gown? The sequins!

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Love Honor

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Groom – Boggi Milano, Groomsmen – Brent Wilson

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? Earrings from David Jones and Lincoln bought me a Tiffany and Co bracelet to wear on the day as a wedding gift.

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? I wore my sister’s veil that she wore at her wedding

Louise & Nick: As Featured on Hello May

Louise & Nick: As Featured on Hello May

In the midst of planning their New South Wales wedding, Louise and Nick stopped and realised they were getting away from their original vision for the day, so they wiped the slate clean and started a new. Pretty ballsy if you ask us.

“We really wanted the wedding to reflect our lives together. We wanted it all to feel natural to us on some level,” explains Louise, who decided on a close-to-home celebration featuring some of their local favourites like Bourke Street Bakery and Papa Pasticceria.

Held at The Grounds of Alexandria, the couple’s go-to coffee shop on the weekends, the bride rocked a Karen Willis Holmes gown and hair and makeup by beauty legend Liv Lundelius, who Louise raved about amongst other talented vendors, like Shane Shepherd and Sydney Celebrant.

“You really do spend a lot of time with your vendors on your wedding day, and for that reason we consciously chose vendors we really liked as people too. Being a bit of a perfectionist in some ways I struggled to follow my own advice, but really try to forget the small details that don’t go to plan and enjoy the day,” says Louise, who swore by Hello May in finding her crew of vendors.

“Hello May became my bible in the lead up to the wedding! Pretty much all my inspiration came from Hello May and of course, Pinterest.”
