Taking advantage of Perth notoriously perfect Spring weather, Alia and Clint had their ceremony in a sunken garden near the Swan River in Matilda Bay (one of Perth's best locations if we do say so ourselves!). Following their spectacular ceremony, this handsome pair danced the night away with their nearest and dearest with a relaxed cocktail party at the always impressive Guilford Hotel. If you have been looking for inspiration of how to keep your wedding casual but it to still be a night not to be forgotten then this one is a must see!
On the proposal
After a holiday away celebrating Clint's 30 birthday, he completely took Alia by surprise by organising a huge message board in the small town Burekup to ask for her hand. "Clint asked me to cover my eyes as he 'had something he wanted to show me' when I opened my eyes there was a huge message board saying 'will you marry me.'! It was such a lovely surprise and I couldn’t believe he went to all that effort."
On the venue
Alia has always been drawn to the idea of an outdoor ceremony and after stumbling across the stunning Sunken Gardens at the University of Western Australia, Alia knew that this was the venue she had been dreaming of!
With their ceremony location set these two decided to keep the reception casual, choosing the recently restored Guildford Hotel for their celebrations. "It is a heritage-listed building and the inside is incredible. Exposed brick walls, timber flooring and wooden furnishings giving it a romantic rustic feel." With Perth bring the best of the spring weather for Alia and Clint's stunning outdoor ceremony and an evening filled with feasting and dancing was the perfect example of a modern nuptials.
All the styling details
Alia and Clint know they wanted to play on the relaxed rustic feel of Guildford Hotel and so florist Rose & Bud's whimsical wildflower assortments and dreamy bohemian bouquets seemed the obvious choice. A friend of theirs created an amazing balloon installation above the cake table and Alia's mum made flower bundles for the Ceremony chairs.
Alia looked stunning in the backless 'Cassie' gown from our KWH by Karen Willis Holmes collection - Purchased from our Perth boutique. Alia originally saw the 'Cassie' dress posted on Pinterest and actually had it saved as dress inspiration! After trying on about 10 gowns in total she knew that 'Cassie' was the one. 'I've always wanted a wedding dress with sleeves, and the beading and sequin detail is so elegant and beautiful.'
Alia kept her accessories to a minimum with some simple earrings and no veil.
"It can be stressful organising and planning your special day but don’t be afraid to ask for help. Enjoy the experience because it's over so quickly."
