Carly & Joel's Clean and Coastal Wedding

How did you meet your (now) husband? Through a mutual friend who I was living with at the time

How long have you been together? 3.5 years

Do you have a proposal story? Yes – he took me on a surprise trip to the Hunter Valley

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 15th Feb 2015

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

1.     Where? Lucinda Park Palm beach followed by Reception at Moby Dick’s Whale Beach and after party at Palm Beach Golf Club

2.     What made you choose there? A friend suggested Moby’s

How was the weather on the day? Pefect 30 degree day…super warm and tropical which fit perfectly with our themes

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? Only available date before winter at Moby’s

The Wedding Details

Theme (if any – colours, features, etc.)? Clean and Coastal – lots of white, greens for flowers and pale blue.

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? A lot came from Instagram and just generally how Joel and I like to spend our spare time…by the beach and with good champagne…

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? I didn’t do too many things myself but my sister made our bouquets and the men’s lapels – that was the main DIY part but a lot of other bits eg the photo board (face cut out portrait of us) we had made up for the day

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I had seen a lot of the dresses on Instagram and they all looked young, fresh and modern.

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? Instagram and website

How many gowns did you try? Probably about 8 all up

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Paddington

What did you especially like about your gown? I LOVED EVERYTHING about it. I loved how comfortable it was, how beautiful the beading was around the neckline and I especially loved the skirt that sat over the top of the lace dress.

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Donna Morgan NYC

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? MJ Bale

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? Just some earrings for myself and each of the girls had different pieces of jewelry (earrings and rings)

Where did you get your shoes from? Nine West

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? Yes – borrowed my sisters, not sure where she purchased it.

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? Outsource and delegate and trust the amazing people around you to help create the day for you.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? Don’t stress if you change your mind …I did!

Anything extra that is special or you would like to share about your big day.

My friends all gave me an old charm for my bouquet from when we were growing up eg ‘best friend charms’, a ring I gave my sister for her 18th bday etc it was really special and with me walking down the eisle.

My mum also sewed in my grandmother and Nana’s wedding rings into the inside of my dress with a blue ribbon…with a note explaining how this was something borrowed, something old, something borrowed and why it represented something new – very thoughtful!
