Christina & Andrew's Intimate Coastal Wedding

How did you meet your (now) husband? We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend of ours!

Do you have a proposal story? Our daughter, Isabella and I were painting outside when Andrew came home and called me inside for something. When I came inside he asked me to sit and was half hiding around the corner so I thought I had scored a puppy that I had been so persistent about! Instead, he produced a beautiful tan leather box, exquisite ring and asked me to marry him. It was so surreal and the most amazing feeling ever. Even though we'd spoken about it, I never expected it in the moment. We were on cloud nine for a long time after.

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 24/06/2016

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

Where? Braeside Chapel in Merriman

What made you choose there? I had imagined this quaint little chapel. It was my imagination come to life. We were smitten with it!

How did you find it? Goggle!

How was the weather on the day? Cool and breezy but we never even noticed

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? We had shifted our date what felt like a million tomes to try accommodate all our guests. In the end we had to do what was right for us.

The Wedding Details

Theme? A little bit vintage, traditional and classic

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? I honestly changed my mind a million times but in the end had to do what felt most like us.

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? My beautiful maids and I did all the reception flowers. We also had a gorgeous plaque we got made - so not DIY but we were very clear on what we wanted and had a friend make it for us.

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship? Kristie and Anita are my long terms girls. We have been friends for over 15 years! Kyra is my sister and Edwina is my sister in law. I love each and every one of them very much.

Groomsmen – who/relationship? Best man was Lance - he and Andrew are like Brothers. Stuart and Adam actually are Andrews brothers and Dell is another good college friend of Andrews.

Flower girls/Page boys – who/relationship? I had two flower girls. Our Daughter Isabella and our niece, Paige!

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I had tried many dresses and nothing gave me that zing. I was so indecisive. It wasn't until I decided I wanted classic that I walked into Karen Willis Holmes! My dress was the second one I tried on. Christina wore our Blake/Prea combination gown from the D.Y.G collection.

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? Mainly on Instagram

How many gowns did you try? Three total at Karen Willis Holmes

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Paddington store in Brisbane

What did you especially like about your gown? I always said id never go strapless but I was so in love with my dress! Although it was strapless it was unique. So structured and classic. I was so sad to take it off at the end of the night!

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Shona Joy

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Politics

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? Because of the simplicity in my dress I went with beautiful bling earrings from Samantha Wills.

Where did you get your shoes from? Tony Bianco originally, then shorter version from Famous Footwear. I originally bought Tony Bianco heels but they unfortunately, were too high for my dress. Luckily, I found a very similar pair at an appropriate height for my dress before the big day!

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? Yes! It was an exquisite 'glitter' tulle from Karen Willis Holmes. This too I was sad I didnt get to wear for longer. It shimmered slightly in the sun. It was so pretty.

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? Don't overanalyze! Go with your own style instead of trying to please anyone else!

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? Go with what you're comfortable in and what you know flatters your figure.
