DC locals, Julia Lichtman Kepniss and Carin Rosenberg Levine, have been close friends since the seventh grade when they discovered their mutual love for the hit song 'Eternal Flame' by the Bangles and they have been inseparable ever since.

Living together in New York City after college, the two followed separate career paths that both happened to involve extensive event planning. Looking to grow professionally, Julia returned to DC to attend law school at Georgetown and Carin headed to Connecticut to attend business school at Yale. Despite their separate career choices and different graduate degrees, the two knew that one day they would start a business venture together.

A few years later, while searching for their own wedding gowns ~ first, Julia and then Carin soon thereafter ~ it became clear that the DC area bridal market was in need of an energizing jolt.

Inspired to create a bridal experience that would be warm and welcoming, hip and helpful, and sleek and sophisticated, the two began to study the bridal industry with an eye towards bringing something totally new to their hometown (while somehow maintaining their day jobs on the side).

Understanding the busy lives of today’s brides, they fashioned a unique bridal concept that would include exquisite gowns, stunning invitations, and a variety of products and services all housed in one location. After extensive research and planning, encouragement from national bridal gown designers, and insights from local brides, Hitched was hatched.
