Jodi & Jarrod's Natural Fairytail Wedding

Background

How did you meet your (now) husband? We met at a friend’s party, went out all night then spent the whole next day together laughing. We soon became best friends and then eventually boyfriend and girlfriend.

How long have you been together? 6 years

Do you have a proposal story? We were on a beautiful beach in Shirahama (Japan) at night time with fireworks going. I was trying to jump in the sky so he can get a photo of me with the fireworks. We couldn’t get the timing right so I turned around to do it backwards, when I turned back around to see if he got the shot he was on one knee asking me to marry him. It was truly the best moment.

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 3.3.15

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

Where?     Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat

What made you choose there?  We saw photos of a wedding there years ago and thought wow how naturally beautiful. When we went to have a look at the venue in person it was perfect

How did you find it? Internet

How was the weather on the day? The whole week was perfect weather. The wedding day was a little on the warmer side but we were so thankful it wasn’t cold or raining.

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? We were so in love with the venue and wanted our wedding to last for longer than a day so we had 4 days of festivities. It was so much fun!

The Wedding Details

Theme (if any – colours, features, etc.)? We really wanted to go for a natural fairy type theme. We went very plain with colours. A lot of white, little bits of gold and navy.

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? We really wanted to have a naturally beautiful wedding with lots of foliage. When I was a little girl I was always into fairies so maybe that’s where the inspiration came from. I also spent hours on pinterest and reading wedding magazines as all brides do.

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? My mum Made a beautiful letter box for the wishing well which was so cute.

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship? I had all 4 of my sisters and my sister in law.

Groomsmen – who/relationship? Jarrod had his brother as his best man and the rest his close friends.

Flower girls/Page boys – who/relationship? We had 4 little flower girls 1 of them my niece, the other 3 Jarrod’s nieces and the ring boy was my nephew.

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I took a trip to Melbourne with my mum and two little sisters, was so much fun trying on dresses with them until I went to a million stores and still wasn’t finding the one. I was getting so sick of trying on dresses until we went to the end of high street and saw the dress sitting in the window. That’s the one!!!! I knew before I had even tried it on.

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before?  Magazines, pinterest, instagram

How many gowns did you try? Millions!

What did you especially like about your gown? I love that it had stunning detail on the top and a 3 tiered tule skirt. Made me feel beautiful as soon as I put it on.

Fashion

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Forever new

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Rodger David

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? I kept it simple with my jewelry I wore a simple gold necklace saying ‘Live this moment’ and some small blue stoned earrings. The bridesmaids just wore a simple bracelet and some elegant earrings.

Where did you get your shoes from? Windsor Smith

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from?  I got my veil made from a dress maker in Canberra .

Other:

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? Take some time off before your wedding. I took a couple of days off before mine but that last week of work and doing final touches for the wedding was too much I wish I took a little more time off from work.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? Don’t settle for anything less than perfect!

Anything extra that is special or you would like to share about your big day.

Something Old? My mum bought me a baby bonnet when I was born that turned into a hankie for my wedding day!

Something New? My shoes

Something Borrowed? My oldest sisters little purse she used on her wedding day

Something Blue? My earrings
