How was the weather on the day? Glorious, sunny Day.
What made you decide to get married on this particular date? It worked well with the availability of the Polo Club and availability of those traveling from overseas. We also preferred the warmer weather.
The Wedding Details
Theme (if any – colours, features, etc.)?
I wanted a Vintage look with a modern twist. Miles from Flower Duet Designs helped me achieve this.
For the reception centrepieces it was a mixture of different sized mason jars with a variety of Australian Natives in bunches. Each table also featured a small birdcage with real miniature apples, paradise pears, small apricots and small grapes hanging over the edge. It was a beautiful surprise when I walked in!
Another stand out for me was my bouquet. Using soft colours that complimented my dress and consisted of Eucalyptus, King protea in a beautiful velvety light pink, flannel flower, sholtzia and riceflower.
The bridesmaid bouquets were bunches of sholtzia dyed a few shades darker than their dresses which were in a Vintage rose colour. The tone on tone effect enhanced the textures of the flowers and dresses. The buttonholes had the same flowers incorporated, which completed the whole theme.
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from?
We drew Inspiration mainly from the natural beauty of the Sydney Polo Club, the beautiful lush green fields with the contrast of the Rustic Barn yards. I met with Miles from Flower Duet Designs and she created a mood board for me to relate to. Her approach was very modern and visually high impact.
Flower Duet Designs used a variety of Australian Natives, fruits and orchids which popped against the landscape of the Sydney Polo Club. Instead of using your common daisy’s or roses for that shabby look, Flower Duet used earthy waxy flowers and heavily textured shrubs and bushes.
Pinterest was also a great source for Ideas, especially for Rustic DIY’s.
Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What?
Yes, although I’d love to take the credit for everything, I had help from our close friends and family, which made it all the more fun! We made our own Ceremony paddles, confetti cones, chalk boards, bunting, reception menus, pocket squares and tea light candles in spice jars. The Candy bar treats were all home baked.

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)
What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? My work mate Mylene whom also was married in a KAREN WILLIS HOLES gown recommended KWH to me after I described to her the style of gown I was looking for.
Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? A wedding photo of Mylene wearing her Greta KAREN WILLIS HOLMES gown and she looked stunning.
How many gowns did you try? I tried around 12 gowns and narrowed it down to 5 , then 2 and ultimately chose the KAREN WILLIS HOLMES Anya gown with Genevieve overlay.
Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Paddington. All the ladies at the Paddington store, including the seamstress at Newtown were all so amazing. The service I was provided was fantastic and all the ladies (special mention to Hannah-Kate) were so helpful and came on the journey with me to find the perfect dress. I highly recommend KAREN WILLIS HOLMES if you are looking for a bridal gown and if you want to be made to feel like a special bride.
What did you especially like about your gown? I loved the simplicity and elegance that the sequins gave to the gown. It was stunning to look at and was everything that I wanted, it was the only dress that gave me butterflies every time I put it on.
Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? White Runway
Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Myers - Blaq
What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? I chose the KAREN WILLIS HOLMES Genevieve overlay, the softness of the silk tulle really complimented the sequins on my Anya gown and gave it an added wow factor. To finish off I had a KAREN WILLIS HOLMES Head piece, belt and veil. One can not have enough KAREN WILLIS HOLMES.
Where did you get your shoes from? Panache Bridal. Great selection of shoes and the ladies there are all really lovely and sweet.
Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? Yes, both veil and headpiece was from KAREN WILLIS HOLMES.
Other: Jewellery gifted from family.

Styles to suit everyone, no real reason why we chose Midas, just happened to have the style of rings we wanted at an affordable price and the service was good.
Band : Soul Empire
We discovered Soul Empire when dealing with the Manager for the group. We wanted a band which played old school hits that we grew up listening to and a talented group of RnB performers with soulful voices. Soul Empire preformed a list of hits that we chose and a special request song for our First Dance, they really delivered with their voices.
