Kate & Andrew's modern Perth wedding

Background

How did you meet your partner?
We met on a night out in Subiaco

How long have you been together?
9 years

Do you have a proposal story?
We go to Rottenest every year with my family and one day Andrew and I went for a ride, we stopped at a little bay and were sitting on some rocks taking in the view when he said that he had something to ask me and pulled out the ring.

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 11.11.2016

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

Where?
Ceremony was at the Matilda Bay foreshore and the reception was at the Old Swan Brewery

What made you choose there?
I loved the idea of getting married by the water surrounded by all of the beautiful trees, and for the reception, we knew they had great food, wine and beer

How was the weather on the day?
25 degrees and slightly over cast, there was rain the day before but it held off for us

The Wedding Details

Theme?
We wanted a relaxed and fun wedding, so we had two long tables to encourage guests to get up and mingle with flowers and candles down the middle of each table (coral peonies)

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from?
I spent a lot of time looking on Instagram

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship?
My sisters Sally and Emma (twins) were my bridesmaids

Groomsmen – who/relationship?
Andrews’s friends David and Trystan

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes?
I had been looking online and loved the simple, elegant style

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before?
Online

How many gowns did you try?
Karen Willis Holmes was the only store I went to and as soon as I put my dress on I knew it was the “one”

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)?
Subiaco store

What did you especially like about your gown?
I made a few alterations to the original dress and the girls at the store were so helpful with this, once the few minor changes were made it was exactly what I had been imagining

Kate wore our BESPOKE Holly gown with custom appliqué lace detail.

Fashion

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier?
Bojena King

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits?
 MJ Bale

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party?
My bridesmaids and I all had Monica Vinader bracelets and I wore diamond studs that Andrew had given me

Where did you get your shoes from?
I wore Gucci flat sandals

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from?
Veil was also from KWH

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding?
The best piece of advice we were given was to take 10 minutes for yourself and your groom on your wedding day to be alone and just enjoy the moment.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown?
Enjoy the experience, and try on a few styles that you wouldn’t normally consider

Something Old?
A brooch that was my granny’s that I used to pin the train of my dress up

Something New?
Pretty much everything :P

Something Blue?
There was some blue stitching in my dress
