Laura & Tim's stunning Lake Tahoe wedding

Laura & Tim's stunning Lake Tahoe wedding

Stunning American couple Laura and Tim celebrated their wedding in the spectacular Lake Tahoe, California.  The special spot is full of nostalgia for the pair as they used to spend their family holidays here. The summer reception was set in the marina, providing a breathtaking backdrop as the sun set and their friends and family kicked off their shoes and danced into the night.

How did you meet your (now) husband?  We met through mutual friends. We both lived in San Francisco, and after dating for a year, we moved in together in the Marina district.

How long have you been together? 3 years

Do you have a proposal story? Lake Tahoe, California is our happy place. We both grew up spending Winters skiing and Summers at the beach with our families. We decided last minute to go on a weekend getaway with our new puppy in October. The next day we got up early for a hike and then ended on a pier near Tim’s family cabin. It was still very early in the morning, so nobody was around and it was the most special, intimate, and romantic proposal. Special to have our dog there too!

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? July 29, 2016

Where?  West Shore Café and Inn, Lake Tahoe

What made you choose there? We knew right after we got engaged we wanted to get married in Lake Tahoe. West Shore Café was one of our first date spots on one of our first of many trips to Lake Tahoe together.
How was the weather on the day? It was a perfect summer day. A little cloudy, temperature was 70-80 degrees (21-26 degrees celsius).
What made you decide to get married on this particular date? We knew we wanted a Summer wedding.

The Wedding Details

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? When I think of Lake Tahoe I think of natural beauty. I wanted a lot of greenery and neutral flowers to go with the girls dresses.

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)
What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I went to Lovely Bride in San Francisco. The 'Anya' gown was the second dress I tried on, and it was so different from anything I have tried on before. It just felt like me, and I felt so beautiful wearing it!
Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Lovely Bride in San Fransisco
What did you especially like about your gown? I loved how it sparkled in the sunshine. I truly felt like a princess in it and received SO many compliments. It was also very comfortable and fun to dance in!

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? The bridesmaids purchased their own dresses of choice from various designers.

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? An online rental company.

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? I didn’t need many accessories because the dress was already so beautiful. My mother purchased me some simple drop earrings to add that nice simple touch.

Where did you get your shoes from? Badgley Mischka.

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? Lovely Bride San Fransisco.

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? To try and stay organised by making a list and just doing one thing at a time! It was also nice to have a partial planning coordinator to help with vendor recommendations and helping make my vision a reality!

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? To wait until you really feel like yourself. That was important to me, I didn’t want to feel like someone different and had to stay true to me and my style.
