Lina + Christian's sophisticated Melbourne wedding

Some couples take years to plan a wedding but not Lina and Christian, who managed to plan the whole celebration in just two weeks! A breathtaking opulent ceremony at one of Melbourne oldest cathedrals set the bar for the truly magical evening of feasting and dancing in the stunning glass-walled ‘Garden Restaurant ’ at the NGV that followed. 'I still to this day don't quite know how we got so lucky with everything just working out at such short notice'

On the proposal
Lina and Christian's story is one that will inspire you to take risks! After a particularly hard year, Lina decided to take a trip to visit her family in Lebanon. While away she challenged herself to do things she never normally would, one of these being to get dressed up and go to a bar alone.  Well, the risk paid off big time because it was on said night that she met her husband to be Christian. 'Christian asked if I would like to have some dinner with him and we have been together since!'

After the whirlwind three-month romance that followed this chance meeting, Christian proposed the week before Lina was due to fly home. He had booked a private room at the stunning XSIR Winery in the coastal city of Batroun. Christian had the room set up with candles, rose petals and a sign asking for Lina's hand. 'It was the happiest day of my life' said Lina.

On the venue
After spending a few months apart when Christian and his parents came to visit for Christmas it was obvious to these two lovebirds that they never wanted to be apart again. Christian suggested that instead of waiting any longer to have the wedding while his parents were in Australia. 'This way we can start our lives as husband a wife, no more back and forth' Lina loved the idea and so it was set and the wedding was planned in two weeks. These two couldn't believe their luck when Lina's Priest; Father Alain Feres, favourite church, the breathtaking St Pauls Cathedral and the stunning ‘Garden Restaurant ’ at the NGV were all available at such short notice.

'My dream was to have a garden wedding but due to the weather, it would be way too hard to set up outside. As soon as I saw the ‘Garden Restaurant’ at the Gallery, I fell in love with it and considering that it rained all day it couldn't have been a more perfect choice.'

All the styling details
Lina a self-confessed minimalist wanted to keep everything refined and paired back (and with such stunning locations why would you need to add anything really!) Deciding to just leave the breathtaking venue as it was flowers was all they needed. Close family friend Alitalia Florist organised beautiful bouquets to add pops of colour throughout. ''I live by the motto less is more and so didn't want anything overdone."

The Dress
Lina wore the 'Taryn/Camille' combination from our D.Y.G collection. Lina saw this gown in the window of our High St boutique in Armadale and immediately knew it was what she had been looking for. 'I turned to my mother and sister who were with me at the time and said - that's the dress I want.' Lina loved the material and how simple yet elegant it was. "It was just perfect for me," she proclaimed.

Accessorising
Lina wore a two-tier cathedral length veil by Karen Willis Holmes and a silk-flower and pearl headpiece by The Essential Hat to the reception. Other than this she kept things as minimal as possible opting again to for refined elegance.

Advice
"Enjoy yourself in the process, do something out of the ordinary and don't be afraid to change a tradition slightly. Oh, and once your ready to go, have a few moments by yourself just to reflect."

Gown hunting tips
"Look for a style that flatters you and something that won't date."
