Matt + Christine's stunning Noosa wedding

Christine & Matt wed in spectaular Noosa in October 2016.  The Melbourne couple got engaged with their gorgeous son in tow one afternoon at Stables of Como. Christine, who thought she would know when Matt was about to propose was completely shocked when he knelt down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.  Christine & Matt have known each other for nearly 7 years and had holidayed in Noosa for years.  Their connection with the balmy coastal town lead them having a destination wedding on the beach at Maison La Plage Grove, followed by a stunning sit-down dinner at Sails Restaurant Noosa. We love the intimate moments and laughter that was shot by Lucas & Co Photography who are known for their carefree, natural, candid style of photography.  Christine looked stunning wearing the 'Abbey' bodice with the 'Prea' skirt- a modern silhouette which exudes a classic romance through the corded lace delicately laid over the beautifully structured bodice.  White coastal blooms by Mondo Floral Designs perfectly finished off this elegant wedding.

How did you meet your partner? We met in London through mutual friends but did not officially become an item until a year later.

How long have you been together? For 6.5 years

Do you have a proposal story? The day Matt proposed caught me very off guard! I was booked in with my best friend for a day spa. Matt had secretly arranged for my friend to drive me to the beautiful Stables of Como in South Yarra straight after our morning appointment. Matt was there with our son and had a catered picnic and my favourite bottle of champagne waiting. He told me that he wanted to surprise me with a picnic, as he knew how busy he had been lately that wanted to do something nice for me. I thought that makes sense now (so any idea of a proposal was pushed right out of my head). It was half an hour later that I made a comment about how beautiful our family was, that he then got down on one knee in the middle of the gardens and said that he would like to make our family official and proceeded to ask me if I would marry him. I always thought I would know when he was about to do it or notice him acting strange but I had no idea! Everything about this day was perfect including the warm weather.  Also, I still can’t believe that he picked my beautiful engagement ring on his own.

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 12th October 2016

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

Ceremony: Maison La Plage Grove, Noosa

Reception: Sails Restaurant Noosa

Where? Noosa

What made you choose there? We absolutely love Noosa as a regular holiday destination and sums us up perfectly- so was an easy choice to make. We wanted good food and good wine right on the beach.

How did you find it? From previous holidays in Noosa

How was the weather on the day? Was warm and windy by the afternoon, it was also overcast but at least it was not raining or too hot for our guests.

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? It was the only date left available for all of September and October so we decided midweek would be fine as it is a destination wedding.

The Wedding Details

Theme? We wanted a simple and elegant theme. The venue was on the beach and was already stunning so did not want to take away from that. We had all white flowers with greenery (white coastal blooms) with tea-light and pillar candles on the tables. We also had festoon lights out on the beach.

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? Pinterest, Instagram, The Lane

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y?  No, as it was a destination wedding it was quite hard to make any decorations and carry it up with us.

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

Christine looked stunning in our 'Abbey' bodice and 'Prea' skirt combination gown from the D.Y.G collection.

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? My friend Emily booked me some appointments to look at dresses when I was in Brisbane and the first store we went to was Karen Willis Holmes. The last dress I tried on in that appointment was the one I ended up buying for my wedding day. I tried some more dresses on once I came back to Melbourne, but found myself comparing all the dresses to the first one I tried on with KWH.

Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? I never really took notice of wedding dresses until I needed one, now I notice Karen Willis Holmes all the time.

How many gowns did you try? 6-7

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Karen Willis Holmes in Armadale, Melbourne.

What did you especially like about your gown? The quality! I tried on a few dresses before I made this purchase and felt like the other dresses had high price tags just because they were wedding dresses but I could not see or feel the quality. I love how beautiful and delicate looking the Abbey bodice was and thought it would photograph so nicely. The Prea skirt material was also gorgeous and I could feel the quality.

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Rodeo Show

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Custom made by Jeff Gibson in Geelong

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? All accessories were by Samantha Wills.

Where did you get your shoes from? Jimmy Choo

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? Veil by Karen Willis Holmes

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? Try to enjoy the process as much as possible. Use good suppliers to help ensure your day runs smooth and as stress-free as possible.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? Be open to trying on different styles as it may catch you by surprise what you like and what looks good on.
