How did you meet your (now) husband?
We met through church. Tom plays drums at church and spotted me from stage one day. He was 17 and I was 20. We ended up chatting and getting to know each other more and more until he asked me out on a date. Our first date consisted of Tom cooking me pancakes and watching back dated Episodes of home and away (toms favourite show). The pancakes were good anyway! I was toms first kiss and first girlfriend which was really sweet.
How long have you been together? 4 years- we got married on our 4th anniversary
Do you have a proposal story? Tom and I were visiting my family in Albury where I grew up. He had organised for my parents to set up candles and a table and chairs with wine and cheese on a hill that overlooked the town. When we arrived he handed me a note that said all the things he loved about me and then got down on one knee and proposed. He was so sweet and I couldn't stop giggling. Especially when I could see my step dad hiding in the bushes with a camera.
What was your wedding date? 01.05.2015
Location (Ceremony and Reception)
1. Where? Fergusson Winery: Barrel Room (Ceremony) Zonzo Cucina Yarra Valley (Reception)
2. What made you choose there?
Ceremony: Tom and I had vision of creating a warm and intimate space that could hold 150 people. The barrel room at Fergusson winery was perfect as it was almost a blank canvas that had cement floors and barrels lining the walls. We were able to fill it with everyone we wanted; festoon lighting, candles and flowers. It felt so romantic and luxe.
Reception: Zonzo provided such a warm family feel. We wanted our reception to be intimate but also to be able to fit our 100 guests. The scenery around Zonzo is just stunning and the landscape provides so many beautiful photo opportunities.
The food and wine at Zonzo is raved about. Being foodies, We didn't want the standard chicken and beef menu that many weddings have, so this was right up our alley. Our guests were raving about how delicious it was and how full they were. Lucky we provided doggy bags for the dessert table.
3. How did you find it?
Fergusson: We searched for it in google and came across the space. It was so affordable and the staff were very flexible for us to set up the day before do basically anything we wanted with the space.
Zonzo: our friends had booked their wedding there and we were keen to get married in the Yarra valley so went and had a look.
How was the weather on the day? We couldn't have asked for the weather to be any better. It was 23 degrees, barely any wind and the sun was out in all its glory.
The Wedding Details
Theme (if any – colours, features, etc.)? Gold and fuchsia luxe theme with country elements
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? I love the richness of gold and the romantic feel that it brings. I also wanted to add some colour and fuschia was a beautiful rich colour that compliments gold so well. This colour palette also compliments the rustic oranges that are around in the Yarra valley in the autum months.
Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? Tom and I love creating things, we always have a project we are working on and love reflecting our personalities in what we make. I spray painted 100 wine bottles with gold and tapered the candles to fit into them. I also made little tissues pockets for my guests at the ceremony. The florist had some beautiful vases to use on the tables but I also spray painted and rolled jars in gold glitter. I collected different jars from op shops and collected old candle jars from friends.
My maid of honour designed my programs, place cards and signs and menus, that I then gold foiled myself. I also hand painted our monogram sign.
My mum made the wedding cake, which was absolutely delicious along with constructing the gifts for the guests (succulents in jars and relish for our guest who flew over). My step dad made crates and hand painted some signs for our entry.

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? There are always going to be little unexpected stresses, try to get them over with way before the wedding. The last week is crazy especially if you are doing DIY stuff, try to do as much as you can months before and have it ready to go.
The night before, relax. Once the day comes you can't change things and they aren't worth stressing over. Let those things go.
What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? It is very much a feeling thing. I had in my head what I wanted and was so sure I was going to buy a particular gown from another supplier. I went and tried it on and I felt like I was 16 in the dress. When I chose my KAREN WILLIS HOLMES gown, it was very much a feeling thing. I felt like a mature sexy women.
Florist - Secret Blossom did our bouquets, buttons holes and reception installation. They were very professional and full of great ideas. They really understood my vision. Floral and found supplied the arrangements for our ceremony at the alter. Louise there is great to work with and is very affordable.
Photographer -Aweiding Photography Wei Wei is very quirky and fun. She works along side her husband Gary who owns filmneverdi.com.au (Polaroid business). Gary shot the boys and Wei Wei did us girls in the morning. Wei Wei very much has an eye for detail and like me appreciates the little things, which I was so glad she captured. Along with providing up to 1000 edited photos, they also include a 60 page book and a framed collection of Polaroid photos from the day.
