On the 25th March, the KWH flagship store in Alexandria was lucky enough to have talented make-up artist Petr Vackar in store to talk to all of our brides. All appointments were booked out well in advance and it was such a successful, fun day. Petr, from PV Hair & Makeup, is also the One Fine Day- Sydney hair & makeup Creative Director so our gowns have been shot and exhibited numerous times with his looks complimenting them beautifully. He comes with a wealth of international experience, working behind the scenes leading runway shows across Milan, Paris, London & New York. Now residing in Sydney, where he runs his business, his passion lies in the wedding industry. Being involved in a brides special day and making her feel the most beautiful version of her she can be, is what drives him. His mission is simple, stating "we specialise in helping our clients see how beautiful they are. Every human being is beautiful. Sometimes we just forget or we become too busy to notice."
Your Name: Petr Vackar
Business name: PV Hair Makeup
Let's start at the beginning. How did your business come about?
I have always been a freelancer, with 10 years of fashion/editorial experience in Europe. The last 11 years here in Sydney, I have been slowly moving towards the bridal world. The ability to make someone feel beautiful and contribute to their big day is what makes the wedding industry so appealing to me.
What inspires you? Everyday life, people, art (all forms)
How do you start your day? Ideally with some exercise and big breakfast.
What is your favourite thing about your job? Being able to make people see how beautiful they are.
What is your advice to couples planning a wedding? Do not forget that it is a day when everyone will come to celebrate YOUR love. You don’t have to please anyone. Make the day about yourselves!
Favourite city? Sydney, Barcelona & Vienna.
Best way to spend $50? A 30 min Chinese massage.
Anything else you would like to share with brides-to-be about your work. Call me old fashioned but to me, the bride is a symbol of purity, virginity and something new. Like spring, or rose bud about to blossom. With that in mind, we always make sure that you look the best you can on your wedding day and most importantly, that you have fun :-)
