Praneeta & Kyle's Rustic Farm Wedding

Praneeta and Kyles Wedding Feature Film at Boomerang Farm by Alexei Malko Films from Alexei Malko Films on Vimeo.

How did you meet your (now) husband? We met at high school in grade 8 and we were friends through-out all of high school. We had many classes together like hospitality but we saw each other the most because we were in the band together. Band was some of the best fun we both had at high school and I guess you could say that without it, we wouldn’t have spent so much time together and become such good friends. We started dated at the end of grade 11 and the rest is basically history!

How long have you been together? We have been together 8 years this year (2016)

Do you have a proposal story? We went to Thailand in May/June 2013 for a holiday. All my Uni friends kept saying, ‘you will totally come back engaged’. I did not believe them one bit; I have given up on it happening! But it did happen while we went for a walk along the beach and he got down on one knee and proposed. Was one of the best holidays!

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 5th September 2015

Location (Ceremony and Reception)

Where? Boomerang Farm, Mudgeeraba Gold Coast

What made you choose there? I really wanted a barn and did not think it was going to happen but we found Boomerang Farm and it was the perfect location!

How was the weather on the day? It actually poured down rain about an hour before the ceremony but cleared up perfectly just in time (it was an outdoor ceremony). It sprinkled a little bit during photos but we did not mind, and it made for amazing photos too!

The Wedding Details

Theme? Rustic theme - think anything old, wooden & lace!

We centered our colours around coral but I didn’t want too much coral, just pops of colour throughout.

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from?

Pinterest & etsy! I had been planning my ‘pinterest wedding’ for a very long time so I knew the exact theme and way I wanted to go about it! The venue we picked was perfect because they definitely encapsulated that style and they had most of the decoration items I was wanted!

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What?

I love anything creative and DIY so I was very keen to do most of it!

I love graphic designing invitations so I made all our wedding stationary for the wedding.

I also wrote all our place cards & did our envelope addressing too!.

I made paper cones for the flower petals for us walking back down the aisle.

I made a few signs for the wedding – a directional sign for the ceremony, ceremony program sign, menu & signs for the reception.

We also did our own dessert buffet for the wedding! We enlisted family members and friends to help make desserts and the venue plated them up for us! Everyone loved it!

I really wanted the words “forever & always” suspended above the bridal table and my dad’s friend was able to make this happen. He laser cut the words out and my dad worked out a way to suspend it with the ladder we hung. It looked amazing, and now I have a great item we can put in our home!

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship?

Maid of Honor – My best friend (Jessie) from when we were born.

Bridesmaids – All my best friends; The first I have been friends since grade 1; the second, a family friend from New Zealand; and third, I met through her brother & playing futsal together.

Groomsmen – who/relationship?

Best man – Best mate from high school (also married to the Bride’s best friend)

Groomsmen – Brother, Brother-in-law, and childhood friend.

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes?

I was down in Melbourne with my mum for a weekend visiting friends and of course being in Melbourne I wanted to do some dress shopping! It was the first dress shop we saw and we decided to go in!

How many gowns did you try?

I think I tried on 3 dresses in store, the Jillian gown was the second one I tried on and I fell in love with it straight away!

What did you especially like about your gown?

My favorite part of my dress was the lace! Such stunning material! It was a must for me in my dream dress!

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier?

I originally purchased the dresses from Portman’s about 5 years before we got engaged (crazy I know!) and my Grandma & Aunty altered the dresses and made the lace top which the girls wore over the dress!

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits?

We bought them from Roger David

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party?

I wore earrings which my parents bought me as a graduation present and I wore a stunning lace and beading garter set which I purchased off Etsy.

For the girls, I purchased simple drop crystal earrings from Little White Couture.

Where did you get your shoes from?

I bought them off Asos! I loved them!

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from?

I purchased a veil from Anna Campbell & had my talented seamstress Aunty alter the beadwork on the comb, so it was a ‘one of a kind’.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown?

Don’t expect to love the style you have in your head! I never wanted a mermaid style dress but that is actually what I fell in love with!
