Your name: Kate Goovan
Your husband’s name: Tim Goovan
Your maiden name: Thompson
How did you meet your (now) husband? Tim and I met on the internet despite having over 100 mutual friends on facebook and living around the corner from each other. We were destined to be together
How long have you been together? 4 years
Do you have a proposal story? Tim and I were snowboarding in Japan at the time , Tim had found a tree swing on the mountain and had setup a video camera and told me that he wanted to capture me jumping off the swing into the snow, when I jumped off the swing I turned around and Tim was down on one knee
What was your wedding date? 7.9.14
Where? Lake Crackenback Resort
What made you choose there? Tim and I spend a lot of time in the snowy mountains region over winter and we wanted to share that special place with our guests.
How was the weather on the day? Getting married in Spring was risky as alpine weather is very unpredictable. It was either going to be snow, rain or sunshine and we were very lucky to have a very bright sunny day, It really couldn’t have been any better we were really lucky.
What made you decide to get married on this particular date? We chose the first week of spring as we were hoping that there would still be quite a lot of snow around for our photos
The Wedding Details
Theme? We chose a peach, rose and gold colour theme, my engagement ring was rose gold with a peach sapphire so choosing those colours for our wedding seemed appropriate. I did the styling myself which included arranging the flowers for the ceremony and reception tables.
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? Pinterest, Instagram and magazines. Our whole wedding was DIY, styling and planning was done by myself. DIY projects included: table chart, hand painting gold glitter polka dots on each of the 150 votive candle holders, arranging flowers for the reception tables and ceremony.
Bridesmaids? Maid of Honour – Kristy (my sister), Bridesmaid – Rachel (my best friend)
Groomsmen? Bestman – Guy (Tim’s best friend), Groomsmen – Peter (Tims brother)

The Wedding Gown (the most important part!)
What made you decide to come into KAREN WILLIS HOLMES? I had always admired Karen’s designs. I love anything sparkly so finding the Kayla dress was a dream come true! It was amazing!!
What did you especially like about your gown? The sparkly detail and flowiness of the skirt, I felt really comfortable wearing this dress as it wasn’t too clingy.
Who helped you pick the gown/who shopped with you? My mum.
