How did you meet your (now) husband? We met when we both worked at Moore park, I was studying Journalism and he had just come back from living overseas. We all went out for farewell drinks for one of my colleagues and the rest is history.
How long have you been together? 14 years
Do you have a proposal story? After 14 years together Dave proposed over dinner one night. We planned our entire wedding in 4 weeks and kept our wedding a secret. We decided to surprise all of our friends and extended family after the event.

Location (Ceremony and Reception)
Where? The old Chruch of Milton, NSW
What made you choose there? It’s a beautiful heritage listed property with amazing grounds and we were able to have our ceremony and reception in the one location in different areas of the grounds.
How did you find it? We are lucky enough that my parents own it.
How was the weather on the day? It poured with rain on the day but luckily stopped for the ceremony so we were still able to have the ceremony outside.
What made you decide to get married on this particular date? It our anniversary and was 14 years to the day.
The Wedding Details
Theme? Relaxed, fun and beautiful were the 3 words I kept referring to.
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? Pinterest, the grounds themselves and working with Kim-Ashlee Winter who styled our day is where it all came from.
Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? Everything styling wise was DIY and made with love. Our stylist created all signs, menus , ceremony seats.
Bridesmaids – who/relationship? Danielle & Alicia my sisters
Groomsmen – who/relationship? Preston & Jason Daves best friends.
Flower girls/Page boys – who/relationship? Matilda & Fifi our daughters.
Wedding Gown (the most important part!)
What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? I had only allowed myself 1 day for wedding dress shopping and make the rookie mistake of not making any appointments. By chance, I walked in KAREN WILLIS HOLMES Paddington and when we explained that I had made the rookie mistake of not making any appointments and only had 4 weeks until the big day they were so beautiful and accommodating. The 'Josie' dress was the last dress I tried on and straight away I knew it was “the one”.
Where have you seen our gowns (if at all) before? I had seen KAREN WILLIS HOLMES in bridal magazines.
How many gowns did you try? KAREN WILLIS HOLMES I tried about 6 on. I also tried on quite a few non bridal white dresses in a few different stores but they didn’t have the “wow” factor that suited me.
Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)? Paddington, Sydney.
What did you especially like about your gown? I loved everything. The way it hugged my body in the right places, the way it fell to the floor, the back, the lace, the sequins. I loved absolutely everything.
Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Scanlan & Theodore
Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Calvin Klein
What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? My Dad brought me a beautiful pair of diamond earrings which he gave me on the day as my wedding present.
Where did you get your shoes from? Tony Bianco
Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from? I didn’t wear one.
What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? Enjoy the process, have fun and remember it’s about the two of you.
What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? Don’t go with an “idea” of what you want, be open to everything and try things you wouldn’t normally.

First Dance – We didn’t have one .However, we danced the night away with our families.

Stationery – We didn’t have any invitations as we told family via text to keep the day free. Menus were made by Kim-Ashlee Winter our stylist.
Menu – We had shared platters of beautiful dishes from the girls at the Milk Haus in Milton who were able to use fresh produce from my parents farm.
Cake – We had a 3 tier chesse wheel cake from Ocello Cheeses.
Bombonieres - All guests left with a hangover kit that we put together ourselves. Each kit contained a eye mask, hydralite, Panadol, water, chewing gum and band aids.
Wedding Bands – Nicholas Haywood
Extra features - We had all our guests back in the morning for brunch with all produce from the farm and it was our way to say thank you to everyone for celebrating with us.
