Sarah & Sam's Elegant Garden Wedding

Background

How did you meet your (now) husband? We met through mutual friends.

How long have you been together? 8 years

Do you have a proposal story? The most surprising proposal. We were on holiday in Bali and spent the morning exploring the Uluwatu temple before ending up at Finns Beach Club at the Semara in Uluwatu. Spent a beautiful afternoon sipping cocktails and relaxing when I said to Sam “wouldn’t this be the perfect place to get engaged, hint hint.” I thought nothing more about it. We went to leave and on top of the cliff overlooking the ocean Sam asked ‘Sarah, will you marry me”.

The Wedding

What was your wedding date? 16th January 2016

Location (Ceremony and Reception):

Where? Ceremony and Reception both at Lamont’s Bishops House

What made you choose there? We wanted a beautiful outdoor venue.

How did you find it? I used to work in the building that overlooks the house.

How was the weather on the day?  HOT! 38 degrees but perfect in the evening – the dance floor was never empty.

What made you decide to get married on this particular date? Venue availability.

The Wedding Details

Theme (if any – colours, features, etc.)? Simplistic and elegant garden wedding

Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from? I had an idea of what I wanted and my mum and sister where amazing. We met with stylist Katie Cooper who just “got” me and we went from there.

Were any aspects of your wedding D.I.Y? If so What? Place cards, menus and seating chart.

Bridal Party

Bridesmaids – who/relationship? Maid of Honour Lucy my sister. My best friend of 17 years Cheryl was my bridesmaid

Groomsmen – who/relationship? Best man – Ryan, Groomsman - Gareth

Wedding Gown (the most important part!)

What made you decide to come into Karen Willis Holmes? The boutique just opened down the road from where I work and I thought I would take a look.

How many gowns did you try? I tried 4 weddiong gowns on at KAREN WILLIS HOLMES

Where did you purchase your gown from (which store or stockist)?  Perth

What did you especially like about your gown? The gorgeous simplicity of the shape but the wow factor of the pearl.

Fashion

Who is your bridesmaid dress supplier? Camilla and Marc exclusive to David Jones

Where did you get the groom and groomsmen’s suits? Politix

What accessories did you choose to finish your gown and also for those in your bridal party? Just pearl earrings from Witchery

Where did you get your shoes from? Target

Did you wear a veil/headpiece? Where did you get this from?  Veil from Karen Willis Holmes

What advice would you give brides organizing their wedding? As cliché as it sounds “DON’T STRESS” enjoy every moment of your day because it really does go so fast. Sam and I took 15 minutes to ourselves to soak it and each other in. I would highly recommend a few minutes alone.

What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown? You will find the one. Just breathe and don’t overthink it.

Something Old? My dad ;)

Something New? My Dress

Something Borrowed? Mums Issey Miyake Perfume

Something Blue? The blue ribbon sewed in to the dress
