GET TO KNOW STEPHANIE BROWNE-

Who are you? Stephanie Browne ( Stephanie Browne Australia )

And what's your business?

Creating gorgeous wedding accessories for brides and special occasions since 1988, we also do work for film and Television, our most recent major collaboration was ' The dressmaker" we created over 30 pieces for this film, including the bodice on Sarah Snooks ( Gerdie)  ball gown in the footballers dance scene, her jewellery and hair comb to her wedding Tiara and many more necklaces , bracelets and earrings through out wedding scene and the film.

When did you launch your business?

1988 the company was launched under the name 'Stephanie's Bridal Millinery', later the name was updated to 'Stephanie Browne Australia'

How did you get into your line of work?

My father Robert Biddle owned his own Bridal store in Melbourne on Little Collins street it was the largest in the Southern hemisphere, I started work for him when I was 15 during school holidays , I started as a junior shop assistant  and over the years consulting and managing then design, its was a wonderful  foundation to my business as I was able to work directly with the brides creating new styles something that wasn’t out there, I trained as a milliner to ensure my product was the best it could be, fit ,comfort , design and quality.

What are your words of advice to a couple planning their wedding?

Work out a plan and budget together but be fully prepared for your budget to be blown! If you plan who's opinion you value most, take only them to your gown, flowers, accessory etc appts , a best friend, your mum or mum and a sister. A wedding planner is a good investment, and for the professional will save you a lot of time and stress however if you are wanting to be more involved or are more a DIY sort of bride just keep in mind The more opinions you have can make the decision making stressful. Take a breath and enjoy the moments this will fly by!  Take the time to book a great photographer you will have your memories to look at for the rest of your life .

What are some of the ways you ensure exceptional service to your couples?

I work in my own boutique in Melbourne 2 days a week, one of them being Saturday's. I love working directly with brides I listen carefully as after so many years I can style in my head! I don’t need to see you in your gown, only a pictures of your gown, I am only the guide giving you option's based on my experience and what you tell me, I give the information the choice is yours.

Anything else you would like to share with brides-to-be about your work?

I love what I do, those that work with me love what they do… it's apparent, we care, its the most important day of your life and we get that. I have working in the wedding industry for most of my life, I feel blessed to have been part of so much joy. We enjoy working with like-minded designers who also have passion and commitment, like Karen Willis Holmes!

Stephanie has created pieces for dozens of celebrities, Tv shows, and movies, most recently designing a custom bodice, earrings and bracelet for Jocelyn Moorhouse's award-winning comedy-drama film 'The Dressmaker'. Seen here on the beautiful Sarah Snook
