The always picturesque Centennial Park in the city of Sydney played host to the stunning wedding celebration of Tori and Josh.
On the proposal
"Josh proposed in our partly renovated home, when we had just moved in, had no kitchen and were sleeping on the floor. A couple of our nearest and dearest ‘dropped in’ one Friday evening to see the reno progress and were in on the plan… but I was caught completely by surprise when Josh dropped to a knee in the middle of our empty kitchen and popped the question!"
On the venue
With fond memories of the fig trees on her families farm, Tori had always wanted to get married beneath one's branches. The heritage trees in Centennial Park provided the perfect canopy for their ceremony, showcasing the best of Spring in the City.
“As soon as we walked around the venue on our first meeting, we knew we loved it and felt comfortable there. The fact that they had a cancellation in Spring and the date seemed balanced was the clincher! We didn’t want to wait until the following year! The forecast was thunderstorms and LOTS of rain… we had a Redfern Town Hall booked as a wet weather backup plan for the ceremony… then decided to risk it on the day! So happy we did as there was not a single drop until late that night!”
All the styling details
Tones of soft pinks and greens accented the modern Morrocan styling and set the scene for a night not to be forgotten. “The inspiration came from a love of spaces dimly lit with lanterns and fairy lights, exotic and eclectic mixes of rugs and furniture that we’ve been collecting for years, and an appreciation for an understated look. Ruth at Tumbleweed Events was our stylist, she did everything from the bouquets to setting up the ceremony and reception with her beautiful props. She made the vision come to life!”
Tori wore the 'Blake/Melanie' combination from our D.Y.G collection from our boutique in Alexandria - Sydney.
“Karen Willis Holmes was the first place I picked for a day of dress shopping with mum. It looked like it would be a beautiful shopping experience… even if the dresses weren’t for me! The pockets on my gown were definitely a highlight! But I also loved the simplicity of the dress, the beautiful lines of the bodice paired with the full skirt was just magic."
"The girls wore earrings from Samanatha Wills and my earrings were from Chilton’s Antiques in Miranda. The boys had ties and pocket squares from The Belle And The Beau on Etsy." Tori wore shoes from Wittner and a veil by KWH.
“Make sure you try out everything you plan to do beauty-wise on your wedding day at least a month in advance! I had an allergic reaction to the glue from eyelash extensions and spend the morning of the wedding in a dark room with a bag of frozen peas on my face! Turns out I have very sensitive skin!”
Gown hunting tips
“Try and go on the feeling you get when you are in the dress. There were other dresses I loved the look of, but none of them made me feel like grinning and dancing like this one.”
Photographer – Heart and Colour
The friendliest, happiest, most easy-going photographers you’ll ever meet. They were the absolute best people to have by our sides on our wedding day, and we adore the photos. Highly recommended!
Florist & Stylist – Tumbleweed Events
We had planned to do our flowers ourselves… but after meeting with Ruth from Tumbleweed, we decided to put our trust in her to create the dream bouquets. She nailed it!! I couldn’t have dreamt up flowers I loved more.
Videographer – Lightheart Films
Getting a wedding video was a last minute decision, and totally out of our budget. I remembered watching my parents wedding video and decided it was something I really wanted. Being a Friday wedding meant we were able to find companies who were available, and negotiate a little bit on price.
Music – DJ K-Time - The best!
The dance floor was full from the moment it started. The old school hip hop we love was pumping and we could have danced all night!
First Dance – Crows Nest Dance Centre.
MC – Our dear friend, Sam.
Celebrant – Josh Withers
Josh was amazing. He got to know us so well before the wedding, and this set the tone for a really fun and personal ceremony.
Stationery – A friend designed our invitation, and we did the rest of the stationery.
Cake – WOW Cakes by Liz Kelly.
We found Liz online and popped around to her house to taste some cakes. She was super friendly and easy going, baked us the MOST delicious caramel mud cake, and then worked with our stylist who did the flowers on the cake.
Bombonieres – Turkish Delight.
We bought cardboard boxes to put them in and name tags on eBay, and these became the place cards.
Hair – Deelush Hair
Danielle is very talented. She understood the vision and created the exact look I was after!
Make-Up – Ash Quinn Makeup
Ash did an amazing job. The makeup lasted all night and we all felt gorgeous. Exactly what you want!
Wedding Bands – GS Diamonds
